HVMC is a social running club catering for all levels of ability from
recreational walkers to ultra distance runners.
The Club meets regularly on Sunday mornings at the Huia Pool (see map here) and regular training
groups meet most Tuesday and Thursdays at the Fountain carpark (cnr Laings
and Myrtle Streets, next to the Hutt City Council Buildings) at 6:00pm.
What we offer:
- Modern meeting room facilities.
- Secure lock-up facilities for your change of clothing.
- Male, female and family shower and changing facilities.
- The 'Zero-to-Ten' group to induct non-runners into the sport
and coach and encourage them to tackle their first half marathon.
- Tea, coffee and refreshments after the run.
- Use of the Spa pool.
- Running and walking groups catering for all levels of
capability.
- Our distinctive blue and white club tee shirts and running
shorts as well as track suits are subsidised by the club.
We put no pressure on our members to perform to any standard - we
are there to enjoy each others company and to keep fit in a
friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
How we do it:
A short meeting is held at 8:00am to discuss any upcoming events,
recent events or news. Pack leaders then announce where they are
going, what pace they expect to go at and how long they expect to be
out. There are usually three to four running packs ranging from 5
minutes per km through to 6.5 minutes per km. We also cater for the
growing popularity of walkers and have at least one walkers pack
each week.
The groups normally start out at 8:10 - 8:15.
Most courses have multiple drop of points throughout the distance
and you can choose the distance you want.
New members are always welcome.
The creche
We operate a crech on a
'request basis'. To ensure that things run smoothly, please contact Elaine Richardson 022 618 3071 before 1 pm
Saturdays if you wish to avail yourself of this service.
